How to Build an E-Commerce Wordpress Website for Under $60 (no coding skills needed!)
I’ve been building websites for years. I know the ins-and-outs of getting a site up quickly (while still maintaining quality) and am ready to share my secrets.

You don’t need to know anything about web design or development to put out a great website. I know this because even though I’ve been building sites from scratch for over 15 years, I’m not the smartest tool in the toolshed (wrong pun intended) 😂 If I can do it, so can you :)
However, I understand that many people don’t have an extra 2 hours to build their own website and would rather pay 2, 3, 4, or even 5 times as much for a pre-built thing. I get it. If you’d rather go that route, here are some options:
- SquareSpace: $19/mo ($168/yr)
- Shopify: $29/mo ($348/yr)
- Wix: $16/mo ($192/yr)
The problem with the above plans is the price. You’ll end up paying $16/mo, at the cheapest plan, but you won’t get many options. The stuff I’m going to share in this article will help you get a free domain name, SSL certificate, NO ads on your site, video storage, website templates, administrator login and dashboard, full control over look and feel, and SO much more.
My method will cost you around $60/YEAR at the very least and still give you all the same options and control (if not MORE control) than the above sites.
So… with all that out of the way, let’s jump into building your first, custom e-commerce Wordpress website.
Step #1: Buy a Domain Name
Domain names are a great way to get your website headed in the right direction.
However, I find it very difficult picking out “just the right name” whenever I start a new website. Your domain name can be anything you want but here are my suggestions:
- keep it relevant to the purpose of the site
- maybe include what you sell
- show who you are
For example, if you were going to build a website to sell your custom-built Go Karts…
